Current or former foster youth in Central and surrounding areas of Columbus Ohio enrolled in the Ohio state university 20-2021 academic year are eligible for help, support, and benefits through The Fostering Achievement Network membership. Academic, wellness and financial support opportunities are available to members, as well as opportunities for leadership experience and community service. Apply to become a member of Fostering Achievement Network, a support network for those who have spent any amount of time in foster, kinship, or other out-of-home care placements. What are the benefits of participating in the Fostering Achievement Network?
Opportunities to build confidence and knowledge about campus resources and job opportunities.
Monthly member meetings with enrichment activities aiding with relationship building, community support, and tools for academic and personal success.
Notification of volunteer and advocacy opportunities throughout out Columbus and within our community.
End of semester achievement stipends & care packages are available to members of FAN at OSU.
Emergency financial aid from Ohio Reach, based out of Ohio and statewide (up to $500).
Membership access on FosteringAchievementNetwork.org, allowing members to communicate with their peers and organizational leaders, as well as the relevant resource information for those foster brothers and sisters in the organization.
No cost professional attire suiting when applying, entering the workforce or other environments (internship, service learning, clinical) where professional attire opportunity connections are provided by The Fostering Achievement Network in Columbus, Ohio.
-Current or former foster members are required to attend a Fostering Achievement Network Semester Kick-Off Event OR meet with President Cloé Cooper to review program requirements via Zoom.
-FAN Members must attend at least two Fostering Achievement Network Member meetings during the The Ohio State University semester.
-Fostering Achievement Network Members must attend at least one additional volunteer or contributor program event per semester such as a social, community service opportunity, or advocacy event.
-FAN Members meet with your academic advisor once a semester.
-Members of Fostering Achievement Network must join our GroupMe chat and be responsive to polls, surveys, and calendar events.
